Love Island viewers react to last night's row

On last night's Love Island, Hugo quoted, 'fakeness,' as one of his turn-offs in a girl, both in personality and looks.

This sparked outrage from the girls in the villa and lead to the P.E. teacher apologising for his words.

Fans of the show have since taken to social media to show their support for Hugo.

It appears the majority of viewers sharing their reactions online were slamming the girls for, 'over reacting.'

One Twitter user went viral for saying, 'hugo isn’t responsible for your triggers girlies………. #loveisland'

The tweet received over 15k likes and 1.3k retweets.

Hugo's chat with Faye

Hugo wanted to make things right with the girls in the villa, so he pulled Faye for a chat.

He said, "I just wanted to extend my apologies to yourself for upsetting you."

"It probably doesn't make any of you feel better but there was no malicious intent and I feel absolutely awful that it has come across that way."

Faye explained her side of the argument, "For me, the word, 'fake,' it doesn't really like brush well with me..."

"My mum and dad for example didn't watch me cry every single day from the age of 13 to 18 'cause I was underdeveloped, to then at 18 buy their daughter a boob job for her 18th birthday because I was so upset about it for such a long time."

Hugo replied, "I can't comprehend how tough that must have been so again for that, I am completely sorry for using the word in a way which hurts you and makes you think of really negative times so I am really sorry for that."

"I shouldn't have made such a sweeping statement," he added.

Faye accepted his apology and gave him a big hug.

The reaction

One Twitter user went viral for tweeting, 'Hugo listening to Faye crying about a boob job while he grew up with a literal disability'

The viewer was referring to the fact that the 24-year-old was born with club foot.

In his Love Island interview, he spoke a bit about it, 'I had lots of operations when I was a kid.'

'You can only really tell when I walk barefoot. I’ve got a really short achilles heel. I walk slightly on my tip toes,' he revealed.

Another Twitter user went viral for pointing out how Aaron said his turn off was hairy arms and nobody blinked an eye.

'sharon being angrier about hugo’s preferences than aaron’s massively misogynistic comment about women’s body hair is just -'

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
