Ireland's Eurovision Entry Ryan O'Shaughnessy Is Feeling Hopeful

It's only a few hours away at this stage, and Ireland's Eurovision hopes for 2018 rest on the shoulders of Ryan O'Shaughnessy.

The 25 year old is set to perform in tonight's first semi final in Lisbon, with 10 of the 19 acts progressing to the final on Saturday night.

He will perform his original song 'Together.'

The Dubliner feels that if the country supports him, he has a chance of being Ireland's first Eurovision winner since Eimear Quinn claimed the trophy in 1996.

"We have a really good chance, we are giving a real honest song, and I think with the staging and everything else that goes along with it, I think we do have a chance."

"What I'd like is for Ireland to get behind us. I think we need that energy from Ireland because when we get behind our own we can succeed so I think that's of huge importance."

Tonight won't be the first time you would have seen him on your screen. O'Shaughnessy has previously appeared on Britain's Got Talent, The Voice and Fair City.
