The musical version of one of the most quotable movies of the noughties has arrived and we've got the first look at The Plastics.
Entertainment Weekly have unveiled the characters - Karen Smith will be played by Kate Rockwell, Gretchen Weiners will be Ashley Park's role and Queen B Regina George will be played by Taylor Lauderman.
Raise your hand if you’ve ever felt personally victimized by the decade-long wait for #MeanGirls to come to Broadway! 🙋🏼Tina Fey’s queen bee comedy arrived in theaters in 2004, and now it's found a second life as a stage musical, with a world premiere set in Washington, D.C. this October. The musical is written by the film's screen writer Tina Fey and her husband Jeff Richmond. It's heading to Washington DC's National Theatre and then it will make its way to broadway.
Fey was chatting about the new Plastics to Entertainment Weekly and said 'Taylor Lauderman not only has this giant voice and great comic timing, but she instinctively understood the idea of Regina George, that there's power in making people come to you. She knows exactly when to play things really small, and there's so much power in it, and I think she's at times so wonderfully scary but so funny. Kate Rockwell so quickly found the zone of the sweetness that's at the core of Karen.'
Here's hoping it comes to Ireland!
