P-and-O Ferries has resumed passenger services between Scotland and Northern Ireland - after saying "tourist travel" wouldn't restart until Thursday.

It's confirmed there'll be three sailings per day.

It's after the company sacked 800 employees with no notice last month, replacing them with cheaper agency workers.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency says an inspection's underway for its Dover to Calais ferry, which remains suspended.

The ferry operator informed travellers on Sunday that “tourist travel” would not restart until Thursday.

However on Monday it posted on Twitter that it had resumed a three-services-per-day schedule for passengers and freight.

Despite this, it has announced that many routes remain cancelled and there are some routes that are still not operational.
