COVID-19 restrictions are easing. Now with more people out and about it's vital we do our best to stop the virus spreading further by wearing a mask.

However, if you're someone who is prone to skin issues you may be worried about how to best protect your skin underneath a mask.

That's where Jennifer Rock, better known as The Skin Nerd, comes in.

#ProjectLoveYourSkin came from the amazing honesty of our Nerd Networkers who took the time to talk to us about how their skin was making them feel. This project was eye-opening - it taught us so much about how skin and confidence are linked, and most importantly, it taught us all about what these amazing hoomans might need to make them feel confident in their skin again. We heard from hoomans who didn't even want to do the school run without makeup, and hoomans who couldn't stop their breakouts from running the show, who were brave enough to reach out, comment, and let us know how they were feeling. #ProjectLoveYourSkin was the start of our Skingredients story - a survey which Nerd Networkers filled in with amazing honesty and which taught us all about what they wanted when it came to products to nourish, protect, and feed their skin. It was so special to have Eva and Olivia from the original #ProjectLoveYourSkin outreach to share their stories with us and to take the time to talk to us about how Skingredients has helped them to love their skin for the past year. You can find out more about the process of #ProjectLoveYourSkin and our tv advert airing on Sky TV with our Behind The Scenes video here! Don't forget to keep an eye out on your Sky channels to catch our advert on air, and to keep an eye out for our amazing testimonials from Skingredients users, all helping us to celebrate our first birthday and an amazing year! Let us know in the comments below what you think - and if you can relate to feeling like your skin has impacted your confidence! . . . . . #projectloveyourskin #skingredients #theskinnerd #skin #skincare

Jennifer joined Sarina on Saturday's Plan B to share how we can take steps to look after our skin under the masks.

From key ingredients to look for, to what material you aim to use she shared plenty of tips to keep your skin in it's best condition while you do your bit to stop the spread of the virus.

Hear all of her advice in the podcast:

Wearing a mask is a simple step we can all take to protect those most vulnerable in our community.

Wear yours on public transport, in shops and enclosed areas and anywhere where 2 metre social distancing is difficult.

Don't ask, just wear a mask.

It's important to look after skin which has serious mask-fatigue. We are all wearing our masks more and more which is excellent to see, but underneath your mask there's an endless story - so let's avoid making it a tale of breakout woe. Try to choose masks made of natural fabrics, and wash them after use. This can help protect skin from reintroducing old SPF, oil, and makeup back onto skin, as well as being recommended by health authorities. If you're finding that you're suffering from mask-ne, as it has been dubbed (acne prompted by mask-wearing), you're not alone. Our recommendation is to introduce a salicylic acid-based cleanser into your routine, such as @skingredients Sally Cleanse, or @imageskincareireland Clear Cell Gel Cleanser, to help dissolve debris in pores before blockages become breakouts. Conversely, if you're finding that your skin is feeling red, irritated and a bit upset, it might be worthwhile to limit your exfoliating acids, particularly before days when you will be wearing your mask for extended periods of time. Keep using your vitamin A serum - this can help to keep your skin barrier strong and minimize the chance for your skin to react to the change in circumstance. Our recommendation is @skingredients Skin Protein - anti-ageing, antioxidant, and packed with vitamin A to help nourish and protect skin. . . . . #theskinnerd #skincare #skin #skintips #skincareroutine
