Alexandra Burke

One of the most iconic movies to come out of the 90s is Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard.

It has now been turned into a theatre musical, is currently playing at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre and Alexandra Burke is the leading lady.

Alexandra joined Sarina on Saturday’s Plan B and shared how she felt when she was first offered the role.

Even though she absolutely loved it, when the first run came to an end she said she would never do it again as it is one of the hardest shows she has ever been in.

The Bodyguard

She instantly changed her mind when the producers approached her and asked if she would take the show on tour again.

It’s a role that she can’t say no to. Many people would assume that performing in the same show night after night for nights on end could become boring, but not for Alexandra Burke.

She says that the lines and songs may be the same but not the actual performance. Every night it feels fresh.

XFactor

It has to be said that Alexandra’s XFactor duet with Beyonce has to be the most iconic moment in the show’s history.

Alexandra only found out 24 hours beforehand that Beyonce would be joining her on stage.

It was an amazing moment and she still cries anytime she watches it back.

With the Xfactor changing its format this year, and there possibly being an All star version, would Alexandra come back for it?

She didn’t confirm or deny the possibility but did say that she would still be on tour with The Bodyguard at that time.

One thing she did confirm were her feelings for Louis Walsh. She loves him and is happy to see him back on the judging panel as she feels he brings the fun to the show.

You can see Alexandra Burke in The Bodyguard at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre until Saturday 17th August.
