Tori Kelly
Tori Kelly first came to our attention after posting videos on YouTube as a teenager. She then went on to be a semi finalist on American Idol in 2010.
Since then she has won two Grammys and on August 9 will release her most vulnerable album to date, Inspired By True Events.
On Saturday’s Plan B, Tori shared how it feels to be handing such a personal album over to the world and how she gets through emotional moments on stage.
At this year’s Grammys, Tori walked away with two awards (Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Performance/Song). She revealed that hearing her name being read out was very surreal and she hardly remembers what she said when she was up on stage but she loved every minute of it.
However the experience isn’t always as glam as it looks.
As soon as Tori stepped off stage, the Grammys were taken off her and she was told that they would be sent out to her. There was no fan fare when the awards arrived. In fact, she had to go down to the local pharmacy to collect the boxes and had to convince the staff that they were really hers!
As well as making music, Tori has voiced Meena in Sing. Tori revealed that she would love to do more voice acting and one day be a part of a musical theatre show. In the meantime, she is loving that she gets to make music and can’t wait to share Inspired By True Events with the world.
The album is out on August 9.
