PLAN B LISTEN BACK: AN EXCLUSIVE WITH SCHITT'S CREEK CATHERINE O'HARA

In this Irish exclusive interview, they discussed Catherine's initial hesitation in taking on the role of Moira Rose.

Catherine also gave Sarina tips on how to speak like her iconic Schitt's Creek character.

And she had the Plan B host in stitches with her Moira Rose rendition of Oh Danny Boy.

Taking on the role

When asked if it's true that she originally turned down the role, Catherine laughed, "I never claimed to be a genius!"

She explained, "Aside from being too lazy to create my own show, I've always been too afraid to lock into one character."

"So you know I just kind of stayed away from the idea of a series..."

Catherine added, "I'm sure it's my own lack of confidence in coming up with a character that I wanted to live with."

Creators, father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, wanted to put together a presentation to sell the idea for the show.

Despite her saying no to the role, they asked Catherine if she would help them with the presentation and she agreed.

She was adamant at the time that she did not want to star in the show.

But that quickly changed when she played the role for the presentation next to Dan and Eugene.

She told Sarina that it was so lovely to star next to those, "two sets of eyebrows."

It wasn't long before Catherine agreed to take on the role, pointing out that she never did commit to one character.

She explained, "It really helped that [Moira] was an actress, it gave me the opportunity to play Moira in different ways."

The 66-year-old added, "I never actually did commit to one character."

A secret Schitt's Creek project

Catherine went on to reveal the cast of Schitt's Creek are working on a special graduation project.

She made the revelation after Sarina mentioned she had previously interviewed Alexis actress Annie Murphy.

Catherine said she had heard the interview and she couldn't get over how, "quick-witted," her co-star was.

The actress gushed, "She's a lovely girl and she doesn't have any idea how beautiful she is."

"We're actually going to record something for one of these graduation specials..."

"I can't tell any more about it but we've been doing some Zoom meetings to talk about it."

Catherine said, "It's just great to have another excuse to be with those people."

When asked when they're planning to release this special, the Moira actress replied, "I don't think it'll be anywhere until June."

The 66-year-old went on to promote the Schitt's Creek live tour.

Sarina joked, "I have a bone to pick with you," before asking why the live shows never made it to Ireland.

Catherine replied, "I wish! I was there in December for The Nightmare Before Christmas."

The actress performed at Dublin's 3Arena last year and she absolutely loved it.

How to speak like Moira

Sarina refused to let Catherine go until she reprised her role as Moira to say her character's famous word, "baby."

Well, the technical spelling is, "baby," but it sounds more like, "bébé."

The actress jumped straight into character and replied, "Will I tell you the trick if you want to do Moira?"

Sarina squealed, "Yes please!" And Catherine responded, "Don't be consistent. And my bébés, I miss them."

"I miss them so much, their dear sweet, sweet faces, and how much they needed me."

Catherine wrapped up her interview with a rendition of Oh Danny Boy in character as Moira.
