A male alternative to the Rose of Tralee will take place in Mullingar next month.

The Westmeath Bachelor Festival is a competition to find Ireland's most eligible gentleman.

Contestants ranging from their twenties to their sixties will battle it out through a series of personality and talent rounds.

Hundred of men enter every year, but only 13 will make it to the stage and meet the judges.

Several celebrity panellists have been revealed including Louis Walsh, Pippa O'Connor, journalist Anne Doyle, and TV presenter Brian Ormond.

The winner will receive a holiday, a new wardrobe and a donation to their chosen charity.

Last year, 25-year-old Kerry farmer and musician Bryan Murphy came out on top! He took home the prize due to his "charismatic personality and captivating performance on the accordion".

A statement for the event reads:

"Now it’s time for the men of Ireland to step into the spotlight and show the nation they have what it takes to be the face of Ireland’s modern man."

Tickets are on sale now from the Mullingar Arts Centre's website.
