The two girls who died in a crash last night have been named locally.

They are 17-year-old Kiea McCann and 16-year-old Dlava Mohamed.

They were on the way to the Largy College debs when the crash happened.

That was on the N54 in Legnakelly on the Clones to Smithborough Road.

A man in his 60s remains in a critical condition, while an 18-year-old girl is in a critical but stable condition.

An 18-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

"Just Tragic"

This woman in Monaghan says her thoughts are with the teenagers' families and classmates:

"You can imagine the excitement [yesterday]."

"Rushing to get ready, and saying goodbye to their families, but the families not realising that'd be the last time they ever did say goodbye."

"It's just tragic," she concluded.
