Jozef Puska's trial for the murder of Ashling Murphy has been adjourned.

Mr. Puska, of Lynally Grove in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, was due to stand trial next month, but it has been put back until October.

Ashling Murphy, a 23-year-old primary school teacher, was killed while out for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore, Co Offaly on the afternoon of the 12th of January 2022.

Jozef Puska was charged with her murder one week later and was due to stand trial next month, but the prosecution has been given more time to prepare for the case.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott was told more time was needed to deal with an expert report received from Mr Puska’s lawyers.

The defence didn’t object to the application to adjourn so next month’s trial date was vacated and a new trial date for the 2nd of October was pencilled in.

The case will be mentioned again in July.
