The Taoiseach says the amount of aid being allowed into Gaza is a ‘’sick joke.’’

Micheal Martin says the World is disgusted with the level of bombing and starvation and says the weaponisation of aid is a war crime.

Aid has started entering Gaza for the first time in nearly three months - although only five trucks were allowed in yesterday.

Since then, the UN confirmed its received permission to add 100 more trucks.

The Taoiseach says it’s sickening.

"I think five trucks [yesterday] instead of the 500 plus we urgently need a day, is a sick joke."

"Its beyond, I don't like using that language, but I couldn't believe yesterday the news that five trucks have been left in."

"Sure we know that we need hundreds and hundreds of trucks, people are starving."

"Token" Gesture

Oxfam says the aid allowed in so far is "only a trickle among a sea of need."

Wassem Mushtaha, the charity's Gaza Response Lead, criticised Israel's system for allowing aid inside.

“Instead of restoring access, this emerging system centres on restrictive border crossings, military-controlled corridors, and opaque conditions that exclude local and experienced humanitarian organisations and hinder the impartial delivery of aid," he said.

"Two million people are on the brink of famine, and they are not just starving, but also traumatised, sick and displaced from their homes," according to Mr. Mushtaha.

The charity has called again for “an end to the relentless bombing and attacks on Palestinian people, with an urgent and permanent ceasefire, alongside justice and accountability for all.”

France, Canada, UK

A joint statement from the leaders of France, Britain and Canada has described the amount of aid allowed into Gaza as 'wholly inadequate'.

Mark Carney, Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer say the Israeli Government must stop its invasion of the Palestinian territory and work with the UN to allow aid enter Gaza.

They say the blockade, which was imposed by Israel for the past few months, 'risks' breaching international law.
