Depaul’s Raft Race Against Homelessness returns this evening to raise awareness of youth homelessness in Ireland.

The race will see teams of four take to the water to tackle a thrilling course at Grand Canal Dock.

Entry per team of four is €400, with all funds raised going towards supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

According to Depaul, over 1,200 18 to 24 year-olds were accessing homeless services - the highest monthly figure on record.

There is an additional unknown number of young people currently experiencing ‘hidden homelessness’, who are yet to present to homeless services and unable to access stable and affordable accommodation in Ireland suitable for their needs.

Peter’s Place in Dublin is one of 37 services operated nationwide by Depaul - the youth focused service offers 35 accommodation places for young people experiencing homelessness.

The funds raised from this evening's race will empower services like Peter's Place around the country.
