Three separate weather warnings are now in effect as Storm Ciarán makes its way towards Ireland.

A status yellow rain warning is in place for Kerry, as is a wind warning which also includes Clare and Galway .

A similar rain alert for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford.

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says Dublin won't escape the rain;

"There is a risk of some heavy rainfall catching southern and south-eastern areas particularly, and also some parts of the east coast. Rainfall amounts are still a little bit unclear, even at this late stage. But there is a potential for another 20 to 40 millimeters to fall in some parts, particularly close to the south and south-east coast."

Met Éireann is warning that flooding is likely.

So, make sure to take extra care on the roads today!

The Road Safety Authority is warning motorists not to attempt to drive through floods.

It says flooded roads that appear shallow could be deeper than you think, and the RSA is advising everyone to slow down.

It's also asking drivers to allow a greater braking distance between themselves and the vehicle in front in wet conditions.
