Becoming a Garda offers one of the most rewarding experiences of any job.
That's according to An Garda Siochana itself, as it opens a new recruitment campaign today.
The Government has committed to trying to hire 1,000 additional members of the force this year.
Garda Press Office Superintendent Liam Geraghty admits it's not for the faint heated - but offers very positive experiences too:
"At the end of the day you can say you've done something that's impacted maybe on a young person's life today, or dealt with the victim of a horrible crime professionally."

Diverse Membership
Commissioner Drew Harris called on people from all backgrounds to apply in a statement issued earlier this week:
"An Garda Síochána is an increasingly diverse organisation."
"We have one of the highest rates of female officers in Europe and in our last Garda competition more than 20 per cent of applicants were from minority communities."
"However, we recognise that we have more to do in this regard to meet our aim of being fully representative of the people we serve."
"We want, and need, people from all backgrounds and communities to be Gardaí, and I would ask them to please apply."
