The murder of Keane Mulready-Woods should be a "reality check" for people using recreational drugs, according to the lead investigator on the case.

The 17-year-old's dismembered remains were found in a sports bag in Coolock and a burnt-out car near Croke Park this week.

Gardaí say the investigation is continuing "at pace" and that they're making "steady progress".

Chief Superintendent Christy Mangan from Drogheda Garda Station says people using drugs should think twice following Keane's murder.

"When they go out on a Saturday night and they purchase €100 worth of cocaine to take themselves and maybe share with some of their friends, they are absolutely contributing to the cocaine market," he said.

"They're providing profits for these people who are using their money to buy guns, to shoot people, to contract out killings to people, and that's what they are financing," he added.
