Taoiseach left the register in 2013

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has rejoined the medical register to practice as a doctor.

The Irish Times reported yesterday that Leo Varadkar will take one shift per week in a bid to help with the crisis by offering phone assessments.

His details have re-appeared on the Irish Medical Council's register, under the name Dr Leo Eric Varadkar.

It's believed that he rejoined the register last month, after the HSE called for previous medical professionals to return.

Dr Varadkar was on the register for nearly 10 years before he left it in 2013.
