Traffic volumes have increased significantly in recent months.

According to a motoring expert, Covid-19 worries could be a cause of an increase in traffic.

People being reluctant to use public transport or car share could be a factor.

CSO figures have shown car traffic volumes are nearly back to pre-pandemic levels.

In some regional locations, 90% of volume levels on the roads are back to normal.

Motoring expert Geraldine Herbert says, "It's still early days. We're still living in a fairly different abnormal situation."

"People maybe who were sharing cars going to work and maybe giving other people a lift are probably not doing that anymore."
