Two separate murder investigations have been launched in Dublin after the deaths of a man and a woman.

Ashtown

The first of the two attacks happened at a property at the Royal Canal Park in Ashtown yesterday morning.

A woman in her 40s was discovered with stab injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the city morgue, where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being detained at Finglas Garda Station for questioning.

Finglas

Separately, two men in their late 30s have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a man at a house in Collins Place, Finglas.

This assault happened at around seven o'clock last night and a man, also in his late 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for information on both fatal assaults and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
