Two dead bodies were found in Sligo Town this week.

Gardai are investigating whether there was a homophobic motive behind the murders of two men in Sligo town.

58-year-old Michael Snee and 42-year-old Aidan Moffitt were found dead in their homes earlier this week.

Mr Moffitt's body was mutilated, and the other victim also had a very violent death.

Gardaí are also investigating whether there was evidence of online dating in the murders.

A man has been arrested and is being detained in relation to the discovery of Michael Snee's body on Tuesday night.

Garreth MacNamee of The Journal says the suspect is in his 20s:

"As of now, a man is still in custody being questioned by Gardaí in relation to the horrific murders."

"Gardaí are following a number of lines of enquiry, but the main one is that these two men met their attacker on a gay dating app."

"They're investigating if the man set out to kind of lure these men to their deaths."
