Cabinet has agreed an 8pm curfew for the hospitality sector to take effect from Monday.

Ministers met today to discuss the National Public Health Emergency Team’s recommendations aimed at reducing the spread of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Ministers rejected advice from NPHET, which recommended a 5pm closure for those businesses.

The Taoiseach is due to make his speech shortly.

This will be followed by a post-Cabinet press briefing at around 6.40pm.
