Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the body of a man was discovered in the Boardwalk area of Dublin almost two weeks ago.

The body of the man in his 30s was found on June 4th in the Ormond Quay area at 6.20am.

Gardai are keen to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity between 6pm on June 3rd and 6.20am on June 4th.

Officers say a post mortem exam has been carried out, but they are not releasing the results for operational reasons.

Anyone with information can contact Gardaí at Store Street on 01 666 8000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Elsewhere it was reported that the level of recorded crime has fallen sharply during the pandemic.

CSO figures show there were significant falls in theft, robbery and assaults in the year to March 2021.

However, there was an increase of just over 13 per cent in the number of fraud crimes in the same period.

Drugs and weapons offences also saw increases.

In the first quarter of 2021 nearly 10,500 offences were recorded for breaches of Covid 19 regulations.
