April 12th

The five kilometre travel limit is set to lift on April 12th.

Speaking in his address to the nation, the Taoiseach said that from that day people can travel anywhere within their county.

Two households will also be able to meet outdoors, in a public setting - that does not include private gardens.

Meanwhile, two fully vaccinated people will be allowed to meet indoors.

Construction on houses and apartments will resume and all school classes will also return on the 12th.

April 19th

From April 19th intercounty GAA training can resume.

This does not include under 20 competitions or minor championships.

April 26th

Then on April 26th, outdoor individual sports like golf and tennis can resume along with non-contact sports training for children.

Places of heritage, zoos and some attractions can re-open.

And the number of people allowed at funerals will increase to 25.

May And Beyond

The Taoiseach says the restrictions will be under constant review.

They stand in place until the 4th of May, at which point a number of areas will be considered.

The Government will look at fully re-opening construction activity and a phased reopening of non-essential retail.

It's during this time that the Government will examine the reopening of museums, galleries and libraries.

Churches and other places of worship are likely to open on a staggered bases.

More areas of consideration could be added to that list depending on the case numbers.

Signposts will then be given for what could happen in June and July if the vaccination programme goes to plan.

Vaccine Programme

Meanwhile, Cabinet has agreed major changes to the vaccination programme that will see people given appointments solely based on age.

After the over-70s, vulnerable people and those with underlying conditions are vaccinated the new system will take effect.

It would mean individual groups like Gardaí, teachers and family carers would not be prioritised for vaccination.
