Two people have been arrested after drugs worth €740,000 were seized at Dublin Airport yesterday.

8.5 kilos of cocaine, and two litres of liquid cocaine, were found in the baggage of two passengers who had disembarked a flight from Lisbon in Portugal shortly before 9pm.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s were arrested and taken to Ballymun Garda Station where they can be held for up to a week under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.

Revenue says the seizure is part of its ongoing operations targeting the importation of drugs. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295.
