Covid-19: 93 New Deaths And 2,001 Additional Cases

The Department of Health has been notified of 93 deaths related to Covid-19.

Three of the deaths reported occurred last month.

The median age of those who died is 82, with the age range between 41-99.

The Department has also been notified of 2,001 new cases of the virus.

892 of today's cases were identified in men while 1,098 are in women.

Most people -55% - are under 45 years of age.

The median age is 42 years old.

Most of today's cases were identified in Dublin, where there is 701 new cases.

Elsewhere, there are 204 new cases in Cork, 102 in Wexford, 98 in Meath and 90 in Donegal.

The remaining 806 cases are spread across all other counties

Meanwhile, there have been 100 additional hospitalisations in the past twenty-four hours.

In total, there are 1,949 Covid-19 patients in hospitals - 202 of whom are in intensive care.

The 14 Day Incident Rate is estimated to be 1334.6 per 100,000 population.

CMO Appeals To Public To "Keep Up The Effort"

Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says level five restrictions are starting to impact case numbers.

"While are starting to see the early results of our collective efforts to minimise the transmission of the virus, we are very sadly reporting an additional 93 deaths today."

Dr Holohan said "we cannot afford to drop out guard."

The CMO reminded the public to stay home to minimise the impact of the virus on healthcare workers, patients and frontline workers.
