Conor McGregor tweets that he's 'retiring'

Conor McGregor has revealed that he's retiring from Mixed Martial Arts.

The announcement comes nearly 6 months after his UFC Lightweight Championship loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October.

In addition to wishing his colleagues well, he says it's time for him to focus on his other ventures.

However, the revelation comes as a surprise to many, as it came just hours after an appearence on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon'.

However, we've also seen this kind of thing before from the two-time UFC champion.

In April 2016, when McGregor was looking for a rematch with Nate Diaz, he said that he 'decided to retire young'.

The above suggests that it remains to be seen if McGregor does intend to retire.

After telling Jimmy Fallon that he hopes for a fight in July, for him to suddenly 'retire' would suggest he may be looking for more leverage in negotiations.

However, it could also suggest that 'retiring' means that he will have one more fight before he bows out.
