Rachel Chinouriri today shares the third preview of her much-anticipated second album, I think I spoke too soon, due for release on Friday 16th October 2026 via Atlas Artists / Parlophone Reco\rds.
‘Broken chair’ premiered with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s New Music Daily and through the song’s off kilter sonics explores Rachel’s relationship with partying and alcohol. The lyrics find Rachel paranoid and hallucinating a metaphorical broken chair while walking the streets in the small hours after a night out, only to realise that what she’s really confronted with is the uncomfortable reality of her own actions: “I feel so so sad again, where are all my party friends?”, she asks at the song’s crescendo.
The song was written in Los Angeles alongside friend and fellow musician Lucy Dacus, of which Rachel shares of their time working together: “I started having these realisations about drinking and partying and all these things and she almost reassured me that I am more than enough just being who I am and what I want to be.”

Elsewhere, Rachel appeared on SNL UK over the weekend as musical guest alongside host Amelia Dimoldenberg, performing ‘One song away from crying’ and ‘Never Need Me’. Watch her performance of Never Need Me HERE.
This all follows Rachel’s recent appearance at Olivia Rodrigo’s history-making Daisy Chain Fields Festival alongside the likes of Chappell Roan, Doechii, Stevie Nicks and many more, plus her own headline shows in New York, Los Angeles, Paris and more.
She will be supporting Gracie Abrams’ North American arena tour this December and has been announced for Lollapalooza India in January. So far this year Rachel has also supported Florence + The Machine’s arena tour dates in the US and Ireland, played with Wolf Alice at London’s Finsbury Park and performed standout sets at Governors Ball, All Things Go Toronto and Bonnaroo festivals.

Featuring the singles ‘One song away from crying’, ‘Make believe’ and ‘Broken chair’, I think I spoke too soon picks up where Chinouriri’s critically acclaimed 2024 debut album What A Devastating Turn of Events left off, and arrives as a marked evolution of her unique alt indie pop sound into expanded creative realms.
We’ve all had that moment at a party, all alone in the bathroom, where you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and for an instant feel yanked into an existential vortex. I think I spoke too soon is a leap through that looking glass of the proverbial bathroom mirror; an interrogation into how sometimes in the reflection you can almost see yourself splintering into endless possible selves, paths and choices.
This record is a vivid and surrealist glimpse behind the curtain of some of the most pivotal years of Rachel’s life, told through the lens of a single, big night out. Lead single ‘One song away from crying' sets the scene for an impending epiphany; a glossy synth pop starter with the all too familiar air of crying in the club but soldiering on regardless. A turbulent yet captivating journey that can loop (or maybe even spiral) endlessly, the album details the kind of night that shifts your whole world on its axis and reveals new truths about yourself.
The resulting project is an absorbingly vulnerable study into unpicking those tensions: between the internal and the external, our thoughts and our actions, who we are versus who we want to be. In many ways, this album is Rachel’s offering of loving permission; permission to fall and to get back up, to change, question, learn and grow in the face of the messy, beautiful reality of ongoing personal evolution. “My core thing is you can change who you are at any moment and you can forgive yourself at any moment,” she says. “And I think forgiving yourself is the first step in becoming a better person.”
