The Boo’d Up singer will take to the stage at Vicar Street on Tuesday, 29th September, bringing her smooth vocals, soulful R&B sound and huge catalogue of hits to Dublin.

It's a pretty special homecoming of sorts for an artist who has spent much of her career making waves across the Atlantic.

Ella first came to prominence after American producer DJ Mustard discovered her on social media. She was subsequently signed to his Los Angeles label, 10 Summers Records, and began releasing a series of EPs before her breakthrough arrived with Boo’d Up.

And what a breakthrough it was.

Boo’d Up became a global smash

Released in 2017, Boo’d Up gradually grew into one of the biggest R&B songs of the decade.

The track eventually hit No.1 on the US R&B chart, making Ella Mai the first British artist in 26 years to achieve the feat.

It also reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 and became a multi-platinum hit, firmly establishing Ella as a global star.

The song's success was recognised at the Grammys too, where Ella was nominated for Song of the Year and Best R&B Song.

She took home the Grammy for Best R&B Song, giving her a major career milestone and further cementing Boo’d Up as one of the defining R&B tracks of its era.

From Bruno Mars to Ariana Grande

Ella Mai's rise didn't stop at the charts.

After breaking through, she found herself sharing stages with some of the biggest artists on the planet, including Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande.

She also built an impressive list of collaborations, working with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Usher and Ty Dolla $ign.

So, if you're heading along to Vicar Street, expect a set packed with plenty of R&B favourites.

Rihanna's Savage X Fenty show

Ella's music has even found its way onto one of the world's biggest fashion stages.

Her single Not Another Love Song was featured in Rihanna's Savage X Fenty fashion show, giving the track an extra moment in the spotlight.

The song showcased another side of Ella's sound — romantic, vulnerable and effortlessly smooth.

It's exactly the kind of track that has helped her carve out her own space in modern R&B.

You've definitely seen her on TV

Ella has also become a familiar face on some of America's biggest TV shows.

She's performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Kelly Clarkson Show, among other major programmes.

But there's nothing quite like seeing those vocals live — and Dublin audiences will get their chance when she arrives at Vicar Street this September.

See Ella Mai live in Dublin

Whether you've been listening since Boo’d Up first took over the charts or you've only recently discovered Ella Mai's music, this is one for the diary.
