Ever since the show 13 Reasons Why hit Netflix, it has caused controversy with some, over the way it depicted suicide.

Selena recently did an interview with Elvis Duran, where she spoke out in defence of the show that she's producer of.

She said 'This is happening every day. Whether or not you wanted to see it, that’s what’s happening.'

Selena added 'The content is complicated. It's dark and it has moments that are honestly very hard to swallow, and I understood that we were doing something that is difficult. But these kids today are so exposed to things that I would never even comprehend when I was 8. My cousin teaches third grade and they're doing things and saying things that I couldn't even fathom.'

Earlier in the week, new details were reported about the second season of the show, including the fact that production was due to begin this week. You can read more on that below.

Season one of 13 Reasons Why is available to stream on Netflix right now.
