Robert Pattinson is Batman
It's official, Robert Pattinson is the new Batman!
Rumours have been building for weeks, but this afternoon Deadline broke the news.
According to their report, Pattinson was up against Nicholas Hoult for the role with Warner Bros eventually signing up the Twilight star.
The deal involves three movies with Matt Reeves coming on as director.
He's previously worked on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield.
According to the IMDB account for the movie it's set to be called The Batman we can expect a 2021 release date.
It also looks like current batman Ben Affleck will be credited as a writer.
Affleck first played Batman in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
He went on to play the caped crusader twice more in Suicide Squad and Justice League.
Prior to Affleck, Batman was famously portrayed by Christian Bale.
George Clooney and Michael Keaton have also had a shot at the role.
Robert Pattinson has a busy few years ahead.
He's got seven movies due out between now and The Batman including Christopher Nolan's forthcoming movie Tenet
Pattinson and Warner Bros have yet to make an official comment.
