SPIN chats to Max Greenfield

SPIN's Sarina Bellissimo caught up with New Girl's Max Greenfield this week.

He spoke about his new movie Cats and Dogs 3: Paws Unite, wanting to quit acting and so much more.

The Schmidt actor began his chat with Sarina by apologising for the background noise.

It turns out his 5-year-old and 10-year-old were attending school virtually in the next room.

Sarina asked how he's coping with that, and he said, "I've just given over to the chaos."

He continued, "I feel like I'm just floating in a weird state of allowing things to happen."

Referring to his son, Max said, "As you can hear, I don't even know what he's doing now."

Sarina could completely relate, because she has a 4-year-old and a 9-year-old.

Cats and Dogs 3: Paws Unite

The SPIN presenter asked Max what his kids think of his new movie Cats and Dogs 3: Paws Unite.

He replied, "I was so excited because so much of the work I've done... It's not appropriate for them to see."

"So every once in a while, I get to do something that they can watch and it's proved that I have a job."

Max added that he's always telling his 5-year-old that he stars in the movie, but he doesn't fully understand.

"He's like, I just want to watch the movie, and also that's a dog..."

Meanwhile, he's convinced his 10-year-old daughter likes the movie, but she'd never give him that satisfaction.

A backup plan

Sarina went on to ask Max whether he ever had a backup planning if acting didn't work out.

"No, that's probably the only reason it worked me!" Max responded with the most contagious laugh.

The actor admitted he wanted to quit, "so many times," be he had, "nothing to fall back on."

"I dropped out of college, I had no education. I don't recommend this strategy to anyone."

"But anytime that I was like, 'okay, well let's find something else that I could do,' there were not very little options, there were no options."

Max has guest starred on a number of popular shows including Gilmore Girls and Ugly Betty.

Guest starring

Sarina asked what it's like going into such well established shows.

He replied, "Being a guest star on a show, which I'm painfully aware of what that experience is like, you really have to go in and just full commitment on day one."

He explained further, "You're a guest but as a guest, you wanna be... You sort of have to fit in immediately."
