Sex Education Season 3
We were super excited when Netflix confirmed Sex Education will be returning for a third season.
Having been left on a bit of a cliff-hanger in season 2, we've been dying to know what happens next!
Although things have been delayed due to Covid-19, here's everything we know about season 3 so far.
When is season 3 being released?
We don't yet have a date for season 3 to land on our screens.
Unfortunately, due to the global pandemic filming had to be cancelled in May. However Netflix are hoping to begin filming again in August.
Asa Butterfield, who plays Otis in the show, told Deadline “Sex Education is going to happen as soon as possible”.
Although he did also note that social distancing restrictions could make filming the shows intimate scenes more difficult.
The Cast
Based on the season 3 announcement video we're expecting to see the shows main characters return including Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Jean (Gillian Anderson), Adam (Connor Swindells), Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), Jackson (Kedar Williams-Stirling) and Mr Groff (Alistair Petrie).
Some of season 2's new characters were popular with fans, including Eric's love interest Rahim (Sami Outalbali) and Jackson's friend Viv (Chinenye Ezeudu), but it's not yet known if they'll return.
Maeve's troublesome neighbour Isaac (George Robinson) was also very centre to an important story line so he's expected to return.
New faces are sure to turn up at Moordale too, however Netflix hasn't announced any new cast members to date.
Will this be the last season?
No official statements have been made on whether the show will end or run for more seasons after season 3.
There's good news for fans of the show though as it's creator Laurie Nunn thinks the show could run for many seasons.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Nunn said: 'I think I could do some more with them if we're given the chance. [Netflix] is very supportive and really wanting us to tell the stories that we feel passionate about. It really feels like we're all on the same page, wanting to make the same show.'
What will be the plot of season 3?
We haven't been given any clues as to what season 3 has in store as of yet.
Season 2 saw a lot of new relationships form so hopefully we'll see those develop more.
We can also expect to see what will happen between Maeve and Otis, and Eric and Adam.
Season 2 Ending *Spoilers Warning*
When Maeve finally plucked up the courage to tell Otis how she feels, he rejected her because of his feelings for girlfriend Ola.
Unfortunately for Otis, Ola then dumps him to start a relationship with her best friend Lily.
With Otis and Maeve both single, it seems like the perfect opportunity for them to get together.
However, things get messy when Maeve's neighbour Isaac (who is also falling for her) deletes Otis' voicemail declaring his love for her off of her phone.
The final scene shows Otis and Maeve walking up the same hill in different places.
