Victoria Beckham, the former Spice Girl, Solo Pop Star (briefly!) WAG and Fashion Designer is marking her 40th birthday today. She's apparently planning to celebrate with a low key event in LA with some of her closest friends including Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay, but we're marking the ocassion by looking back over the style queen's fashion evolution. From 1994 to now, here's some of our favourite pictures of VB.

Once Wannabe was released, the Spice Girls shot to fame and Victoria Adams became known as Posh Spice. Her crop top was very on trend at the time, and with the 90s making a major comeback this year, she'd be bang on trend now too. via fashpack
In 1997, Victoria began dating David Beckham. The pair was soon dubbed Posh and Becks. Even though (let's be honest!) David doesn't look great in this picture, Victoria definitely does! via goodtoknow
Posh and Becks became one of the most photographed couples in the late 90s, but we bet Victoria wishes herself and David were never photographed in this matchy-matchy leather get-up in 1999. via Glamour
The Beckhams got married in Ireland in 1999 in what was, and still is, one of the most talked about celebrity weddings of all time. David, Victoria and baby Brooklyn wore matching ivory. Victoria's dress was designed by Vera Wang and is estimated to have cost the equivalent €85,000.
Victoria's dress, while being top of everyone's dream dress wish list at the time, is still relatively classic. It wouldn't take too many changes to make this dress ready for a 2014 wedding. VB can thank Vera Wang's couture for that. via OK
Unfortnately the timelessness of VB's wedding went out the window when herself and Becks showed up to their reception in these matching purple suits. via Glamour
By 2000, Victoria had secured her status as a fashion icon (despite the myriad of dodgey fashion choices) and made her debut as a model at London Fashion Week on the runway for Maria Grachevogel.
The early noughties weren't kind to any pop star but especially VB when she kicked off her solo carrer in 2001; the bandana, the bullets and the bad hair. It's all just so wrong. Via DigitalSpy
By 2002, Victoria Beckham had become friends with the Dolce and Gabbana duo and was cast as the UK Ambassadress for the Italian label. It's rumoured that she had already begun considering the idea of designing her own label by '02 so no doubt working with D&G taught her a lot. via MillionLooks
This is definitely one of the best pictures of VB from the early noughties. She was the face of Rocawear for a brief period in '03 and while the unzipped sports jacket isn't very modern-day-Victoria, she looks incredible.
As we spoke about on The Spin, Victoria did a stint with Rock & Republic jeans and released a line of denims that retailed at about €300 each. Shortly afterwards, herself and David launched their own line of jeans, called dVb. via couture candy
Victoria spent a couple of years almost exclusively wearing Roberto Cavalli on the red carpet and despite how 'high-fashion' the designer is, we think VB looks really trashy in this dress at the Princes Trust in 2005. via Swarovski
Vitoria's hair got the chop by 2006 when she launched her dVb line of jeans at Saks Fifth Avenue, via candycouture
Oh, stars on your ass pockets was never a good look! Via Wondermomo
Victoria's relationship with Cavalli grew and in 2006, she walked for the designer at Milan Fashion Week. via theage
She even walked the red carpet at the Glamour Awards in this Cavalli body suit and YSL heels. Definitely one of the designer's most memorable looks.
At the height of the WAG days; VB and Cheryl Cole were BFFs at the World Cup in 2006. Tan boots, denim cut offs, oversized sunglasses and a celebrity friend were the ultimate fashion must haves. via Digital Spy
And she denied ever getting a boob job! VB left little to the imagination at the press conference for the Spice Girls Reunion Tour. via MTV
Thankfully by 2007 VB's style revolution began when the WAG transformed from (as clichéed as it sounds) trashy to classy! We still love this Roland Mouret dress she wore to David Beckham's press launch at LA Galaxy.
The designer lost her blonde locks by 2008 but gained an awful lot of kudos as she arrived in this Marc Jacobs midi to one of their NY shows in 2008, via StarStyle
And she even modelled for Marc Jacobs' SS '08 campaign
By September 2008, VB had become the fully fledged designer she is today. This dress is from her debut ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2009.
Proving that VB's designs are an investment, this dress from her '09 collection would still look great this season. via Victoria Beckham
Since the launch of her own line, it seems VB hasn't put a foot wrong. Her style remains to be classic and elegant. via pop sugar
And her design credentials keep going from strength to strength!
So happy birthday Victoria! Here's to another 20 years of your fabulous fashion!
