Listening to classical music makes wine taste better, according to a new study.

Participants were asked to taste and rate wine in six different scenarios with one glass being tried without music.

Head researcher Susan Lin says the study found music universally improved perception of taste when compared with silence.

71 participants took part in the trial with 70 reporting that they were testing five different types of wine.

The participants were unaware that each glass was filled with the exact same type of champagne.

The study also found that the type of music people listened to was important, the more exciting the music the more the participants found what was in their glass exciting.

Wine expert Susan Lin says that what this study shows is that wine enthusiasts should avoid drinking their favourite tipple in silence as this takes away from the experience.
