Paul Mescal Has Been Nominated For An Emmy Award For Normal People

Normal People has been nominated for four Emmy awards.

The writer of the novel that the series is based on Sally Rooney is nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special along with Alice Birch.

Paul Mescal has earned his first Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Connell.

The Kildare actor is up against Jeremy Irons, Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Pope and Mark Ruffalo for his individual award.

Here are all the categories Normal People is nominated in:

  • Outstanding casting for a limited series, movie or special
  • Outstanding directing for a limited series, movie or dramatic special
  • Outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie
  • Outstanding writing for a limited series, movie or dramatic special

Other actors in the running for awards include Olivia Colman and Jodie Comer for their roles in The Crown and Killing Eve.

Both those shows are also nominated in the Outstanding Drama Series category.

The winners are due to be revealed on the 21st of September.
