Needless to say, nobody likes being referred to as 'You Irish...' as a collective group in a condescending manner.
That's what Sky News presenter Adam Boulton did over the weekend, as he was responding to backlash he received as people were unhappy with the line of questioning he gave Simon Coveney on Friday, as he was interviewed over Brexit.
The Tanaiste gave a dignified response when asked if he felt 'guilty' about causing the Brexit 'kerfuffle'.

This lead to comments aimed at Boulton, who then took to Twitter to respond:
Bored now. Some of you Irish need to get over yourselves. Interviewing is about challenging the interviewee not respecting.

Irish people then responded in their droves in disapproval at Boulton's tweet, before the hashtag 'YouIrish' got going.
The aim is to suggest the good things that Irish people are known for:
#YouIrish has its humour, it’s dance, it’s music, it’s culture loved by millions around the globe. It’s better to be loved for that, than loathed for a legacy of death, slavery and pillage around the globe.

See #YouIrish, with your naughty independence and your pesky European powers? Leave the door unlocked, #WeScottish will be along ASAP.
