Lewis Capaldi's hilarious BRIT Awards speech

Lewis Capaldi won big at this year's BRIT Awards.

He took home the gong for Song of the Year for Someone You Loved, and Best New Artist.

In his acceptance speech, he hilariously mentions his ex Paige Turley who's now a contestant on Love Island.

Lewis jumps on stage with his drink to collect the award for Song of the Year.

He addresses the room, "Hello! My name is Lewis... eh... thanks very much for this."

"A lot of people think this song is about my ex girlfriend who you can now see every night on Love Island."

Lewis continues, "It's actually about my grandmother who sadly passed away a few years ago."

He jokes, "And I hope to God that ITV don't contact her to be on a reality dating TV show."

"But yeah no, thank you so much. This has been the best year of my life."

Lewis goes on to thank everybody who helped him get where he is today.

The singer says, "Thanks to everyone like you, thanks to the label, thanks to my mum and dad for... Making love!"

"And yeah thanks to my grandmother for... Ehm... Dying? Sorry, ehm I'll see you later."
