Taylor Swift has shared how she and boyfriend Joe Alwyn 'ignore' rumours about their relationship to protect it.

Taylor's new album, Midnights, is due to be released on October 21st. In a reel on Instagram, she opened up about her relationship while explaining the inspiration behind track one, Lavender Haze.

While watching Mad Men, she had heard the phrase 'lavender haze' and decided to look it it up because 'I thought it sounded cool.'

The phrase was popularly used in the 1950s to describe love.

'If you were in the lavender haze, then that meant that you were in that all-encompassing love glow, and I thought that was really beautiful,' Taylor said.

Inspired by the phrase, Taylor reflected on how she and Joe have 'had to dodge rumours' and 'tabloid stuff' throughout their six year relationship.

Some of the rumours that have swirled include pregnancy, engagement and elopement.

Taylor is known to include 'Easter eggs' in her music and social media content and regularly watches her fans theory videos on TikTok.

However, a rumour that's gained significant traction on TikTok and Reddit refers to 'Gaylor.'

This theorises that Taylor Swift is gay or bisexual and Joe Alwyn has agreed to be her beard. It's possible that these fan theories are what Taylor is referring to when she mentions 'weird rumours.'

Taylor Talks Lavender Haze

Taylor explained that the lavender haze means 'you'll do anything to stay there and not let anyone bring you down off of that cloud.'

She suggested that not allowing others to fill your relationship with negativity is not only a battle for public figures, but the general population as well because of social media.

'If the world finds out you're in love with somebody, they're going to weigh in on it,' she said.

To her, Lavender Haze is 'about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff.'
