Two of the main characters in Netflix's Sex Education are dating in real life and fans are shocked.

Aimee Lou Wood plays Aimee Gibbs while Connor Swindells plays Adam Groff.

The pair met on the show which premiered on Netflix in January last year.

But it wasn't until filming ended on season one that they started dating.

Connor and Aimee play onscreen lovers in the series' first season.

Connor opens up about their romance during an interview with The Telegraph last year.

He insists, 'There is no confusion to be had between our sex scenes on the show and our own personal life.'

The actor believes it's important, 'not take anything from your own personal life when you’re doing a sex scene.'

Connor explains, 'When you do that, you get home at the end of the day and you’re depressed and you feel vulnerable, because you’ve just shown people what you do in the most personal, vulnerable situation.'
