Olly Alexander reportedly set to play Doctor Who.
If reports are true Olly will be the first Gay Man to take on the role, replacing the first woman doctor Jodie Whittaker.
The long-running BBC series will see Olly become the fourteenth occupant of the Tardis.
Olly recently broke new ground as an actor in Channel 4’s It’s A Sin, where he broke our hearts in the compelling drama centered around the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and '90s.
According to OK! The 30-year-old is reportedly at an advanced stage of negotiations in securing his role with show bosses.
Speaking with The Sun an insider said, "Olly is on the verge of being announced as the new Doctor”.
“He’s been heavily promoted for the role by Russell – who he’s worked closely with on other projects. Russell (T Davies) was impressed with his work and felt he was a great fit for the Doctor”.
Breaking New Ground
If Olly lands the job, the Years & Years frontman will replace Jodie Whittaker, the first female doctor in the show’s history.
But not before Jodie completes filming of two specials in 2022.
Olly's representatives and the BBC are yet to make any official announcement on the plans. Head showrunners are staying tight-lipped too with lots more reportedly in the works for the doctor next year.
From Strength To Strength
Meanwhile, Doctor Who is not the only show that wants Olly’s musical and on-screen talents. The BBC are reportedly said to have offered him a spot on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Recently, Olly released his latest single Starstruck, and who could forget when he blew us away at this year’s Brit Awards.

He joined the legendary Elton John on stage to perform The Pet Shop Boy's 1987 hit titled song It’s A Sin.
The pair collaborated on the performance in support of the Elton’s AIDS Foundation.
