Niall Horan is using his social media platform to remind his followers that celebs are normal people too.

The singer said that although the negativity doesn't bother him, he knows it can really hurt other people.

It all kicked off when a Twitter user called him a, 'weirdo,' for the way he's holding his phone in a picture.

Niall responded, 'That's not very nice is it ?'

A fan of the singer's jumped in and asked why he bothers replying.

Niall insists anybody who knows him, knows he, 'couldn’t give a s**t about most things in life.'

'I respond because I try to help people understand that you can’t just say what you want to people online.'

'Because we are famous faces and people see us online, on tv, in interviews etc.... doesn’t mean people can say what they want.'

In another tweet, Niall said, 'It bothers me because I know it hurts other people and that’s the frustrating part.'

'Not everyone is as thick skinned,' he pointed out.

'We are normal people that do an abnormal job in which society has put us in a different category for some reason.'

The Twitter user has since apologised for their tweet.

Niall responded, 'Please don’t apologise. You’re fine x'
