Liam Payne talks Zayn Malik

Liam Payne has opened up about Zayn Malik's decision to leave One Direction all those years ago.

In a new interview, he revealed Zayn's mother made him audition for The X Factor even though he really didn't want to.

And it seems he carried that attitude with him in the band.

The For You singer told the Daily Star Online that Zayn never liked the limelight.

Liam said, 'Some people are made for this thing but Zayn enjoys the side of the music where he just gets to make music.'

'I don't think he enjoys what comes with it. I think he has to be very careful where he treads.'

Liam revealed, 'He likes to make songs and his songs do very well but at the same time he doesn't really like to go out and perform the songs.'

'He doesn't really like going out and doing the press stuff that surrounds it in the crazy little world that we live in.'

The singer pointed out, 'Being a pop star is completely different thing to what you think it is.'

The Strip That Down singer revealed life in the limelight can get very competitive.

He said, 'It is is a very interesting and weird popularity contest... even I am like, 'wow this is a lot.''

'Every new app you have to join in and I'm like... 'but how do you make a TikTok?''

One Direction

Zayn left One Direction in 2015, five years after its formation on The X Factor.

Liam told the Daily Star Online that he and his fellow band mates Niall, Louis and Harry secretly knew Zayn wasn't happy.

'We always kind of knew that there were moments when One Direction was really Zayn and then there were moments when it really wasn't.'

He went on, 'You have to imagine when you go into these talent shows you often are a teenager.'

'The only thing you are in the show for is to impress someone around you. You actually don't really know what you want from life.

'I started at 14 and when I was that age I hadn't got a bloody clue what I wanted to do.'

Liam said, 'My parents found it exciting and they thought I was good so I thought I would try it out - but you done know what you want.'

'I remember Zayn telling us the story that it was his mum got him to go to the audition the day he didn't want to go and that was literally what we saw all the way through One Direction.'

Reunion?

There have been rumours going around that One Direction are planning a massive reunion.

It's after Liam revealed in an interview earlier this month that he and the boys are planning something special for their 10 year anniversary.

However, the Bedroom Floor star is asking fans not to hold their breath on this one.

Liam said, 'We haven't had conversation between us all which I'm sure will come along at some point but it is hard.'

'You don't want to deter any of the fans and say, ‘no we are not getting back together,’ but you also don't want to add hope.'

'It is a really difficult situation to be in. I kind of just want to say, 'yeah I'm not really sure right now, but don't get too excited.''

Liam recently revealed he went through a really hard time after his first appearance on The X Factor.
