Holly Willoughby slammed reports of a gender pay gap on This Morning

She co-hosts alongside Phillip Schofield and it had been revealed that her salary was only matched with his two years ago.

However, Holly says the pay difference had nothing to do with gender.

Holly joined Phillip as co-host of Dancing On Ice in 2006 and later joined him on This Morning in 2009.

Schofield had been presenting the show alongside Fern Britton for six years before Holly joined.

According to MailOnline, Holly got a £200,000 pay rise to match Phillip's in 2017.

Willoughby opened up in an interview with The Sunday Times magazine this week.

She said, 'If there was a pay gap, it wasn't just because I was a woman, that wasn't what it was.'

'I think it was that Phil had been there for such a long time.'

'You know, the biggest feminist I know is Phil.'

'The first person that will be standing up screaming from the rooftops would be him, and so it was never an issue.'

Holly also admits she's never experienced sexism in work.

'I genuinely haven't. And, you know, Phil is a man and he practically put his own career on the line to get me this job.'
