Looks like Hailee Steinfeld is treating us to brand new music on New Years Day.
But it seems there may some shade towards a certain old flame attached to the upcoming track.
After the singer teased a brand new song on her social media accounts on Monday, fans have speculated that it is about her ex-boyfriend, Niall Horan.
The post, captioned 1/1, suggests that we can expect the new track, Wrong Direction, this Wednesday, 1st January 2020.
Hailee Steinfeld dated singer, Niall Horan for almost a year.
The couple split in December 2018, due to their 'insanely busy work schedules'.
Now, the title of the upcoming track, Wrong Direction, hints at some inspiration from the ex-One Direction member for the song.
Earlier this year, Hailee was also rumoured to have thrown shade at the 'Nice To Meet Ya' singer, but she was quick to shut down such accusations.
Leading up to the release of his second solo album, Niall Horan admitted that his break-up with the singer and actress inspired his own songs too.
According to the Daily Mail, Niall told Billboard:
'I had just gone through a break up, which helps when it comes to writing songs, I guess. It helps vent the emotions.'
Hailee Steinfeld has not announced any further details about the new track, or the possibility of more new music soon.
But let's hope this is the start of lots to come from her in 2020!
