The Disney live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast finally hits cinemas this week, after what seems like a lifetime of waiting.

But, Emma nearly ended up in a different musical believe it or not. She was originally eyed up for the lead role in La La Land, but it went to Emma Stone, instead.

After much speculation as to why Emma didn't take the role, she has opened up and revealed the truth.

Speaking to Lorraine, Emma said that she had to endure an almost 'Belle bootcamp' in order to play the role of Belle, and that it was extremely time consuming, making it hard for her to commit to other projects.

Emma told 'With a movie like Beauty and the Beast it's like three months prep, it's like three or four months shooting, it's in the UK. I had to be there to do that and, as I was saying before, you can't half-arse a project like this – you're in or you're out.

And I was like, 'I've kinda got to be all in', and so this was really where my heart was and I knew I had to fully commit and make sure that I did this.

Emma said that she was riding a horse and dancing a few times a week, and singing on top of that - meaning she did not have a lot of spare time om her hands.

Beauty and the Beast is out in cinemas on Friday 17th March. Disney dropped the soundtrack on Friday. You can listen to that and learn all of the words ahead of the movie HERE
