Hangar Dublin has closed with immediate effect.

The news was announced via the club's Facebook page last night.

While it was widely publicised that the venue would be closing at some point this year to make way for a 115-room hotel, club goers did not expect the news this week.

A statement made by promoters on social media read,

"We had hoped to be able to throw a series of closing parties over the coming weeks to give the venue and all the people that have danced with us over the last four years a proper send-off but complications with the new lease holder means that it cannot happen."

Hangar Dublin has been a home for DJ sets in the city since 2014 with a number of gigs booked in for dates this month including two official Forbidden Fruit after parties.

Those events will be relocated and we'll update you when we hear more.

In some good news, Hangar promoters have promised that this is not the end,

"This is only a minor hiccup in Hangar’s story with Hangar 2.0 just around the corner (both literally and figuratively) so you’ll be hearing from us very soon."
