Over 200 deer have been killed by a sniper in Phoenix Park over the past 2 years.

The Office of Public Works hired the marksman to carry out a number of culls in 2016 and 2017.

It's been revealed that a meat supplier then bought the carcasses for almost €20,000.

The OPW says culls need to be carried out to avoid an over abundant deer population which can result in more car accidents and an increase in the spread of disease.

But, the National Animal Rights Association says the culling is nothing but a money making scheme.

Laura Broxson, from the NARA says there are other options "The could neuter these deer if they wanted. There's even medication they could give the animals to make them sterile. There's no need to cull them just because they think they're overpopulating. They get money for every carcass they sell. You know it's a money making thing."
