Anyone who is even a casual fan of golf was only wishing for this sight to happen again.

Tiger Woods is a winner on the PGA - his first victory in five years.

His win at the season-ending Tour Championship officially completes what is arguably the greatest comeback in sport.

Woods has had a long road back, after it appeared a recurring back injury would prevent him from reaching the top of a leaderboard again.

Such was the excitement of his pending win last night, you could fully sense it in the crowd at East Lake when he was making his way down to the 18th green:

Nobody in golf invokes that reaction, other than Tiger Woods.

It's a true testament to the popularity and the star power that Woods brings to golf, despite his well-documented off-course issues.

His future at the top of the sport, and even his participation as a whole was truly put in doubt after he required four surgeries on his back in recent years.

However the writing appeared to be on the wall after impressive showings since his recent comeback this year, and his win at the East Lake genuinely makes a case for one of the best comebacks in the history of sport.
