Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme has passed away.
His publicist has confirmed the news this afternoon. They said that he died from complications from oesophageal cancer.
Jonathan directed many films including Philadelphia and Rachel Got Married.
Tributes have been pouring in on social media for the late director.
