Workers at Tesco are to go on strike on Valentine's Day.

Mandate trade union has issued a notice of indefinite strike in a row over long term contracts.

Tesco is trying to cut the pay of those employed before 1996 and to change shift patterns.

Tesco says the industrial action is unnecessary and has urged the union to accept the Labour Court recommendation on the issue.

The stores affected are as follows:

  • Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2
  • Ballyfermot Rd, Ballyfermot Upper, Dublin 10
  • Vevay Road, Bray, Co Wicklow
  • Clearwater Shopping Centre, 11 Finglas Road, Dublin 11
  • Rear Main Street, Deanscurragh, Longford
  • Navan Town Centre, Kennedy Rd, Dillonsland, Navan, Co. Meath
  • O'Connell St, Abbeyquarter North, Sligo
  • Manor West Retail Park, Ratass, Tralee, Co. Kerry
